UNDER THE COORDINATION
OF GUELMIME MATE BRANCH
MATE National Student ICT projects contest
A project of MATE-Guelmim

1) Concept Note :
ICT has become a basic component in everyday life in general, and in the learning process particularly. Most students now use computers, Internet and other tools for different purposes. The issue is the extent to which they use these tools for constructive purposes. It’s high time we directed this use towards attaining competencies and life skills that would strengthen civic education, social awareness, and self-empowerment.
Using ICT is highly motivating for students of all abilities. It is anxiety-free, in comparison to   traditional teacher-fronted settings. Many shy students find technology an excellent way to boost their creativity with enough confidence and in their own pace.
Now, what is the role of MATE in promoting such a project?
MATE has gone a long way as far as teacher training in the use of ICT is concerned. We have teachers with enough skills and expertise to engage student in projects using multimedia. ICT is an acronym that stands for Information Communications Technology.
ICT covers any product that will store, retrieve, manipulate, transmit or receive information electronically in a digital form. For example, personal computers, digital television, email, robots.
So ICT is concerned with the storage, retrieval, manipulation, transmission or receipt of digital data. Importantly, it is also concerned with the way these different uses can work with each other.
